With five albums to date, Bonne Nuit / Beyrouth is Alexandre Varlet's first 7''.
"My friend, Denis Cazajeux, and I recorded these songs in a small chapel overlooking Mont Ventoux in Provence, France. At the time, I was living in Marseilles and my wife was expecting our son."
At the unique setting near the Toulourenc river, Varlet and Cazajeux recorded around ten songs for an album. However, the record in question, Soleil Noir, ended up taking a very different route to the one intended.
"The songs were recorded between games of pool in a bar near the old town and lovely meals and drinks at my father's. We really enjoyed making them, but despite my enthusiasm, they were put on the back-burner for a while. This is as good a time as any to release two songs from those sessions."
